Wynne Benti|Coons Gallery

Wynne Benti|Coons Gallery is located in Bishop, California. Artist Robert Clunie designed the building as his studio and residence. Construction began in 1945 and was completed the following year. Forty years later in 1986, artist Richard Coons, who met Clunie in 1948 while delivering the volcanic block used in the gallery’s construction, purchased the gallery from the Clunie family as his own studio.

One of California’s oldest continuously operating galleries, Wynne Benti|Coons Gallery is a National Geographic GeoTourism Site.

The gallery meets all of the criteria for inclusion in the Register of National Historic Places.
